Troy's Take
This is supposedly one of the best fish fries in the Madison area. Quivey's Grove out in Fitchburg, and on Fridays they do an outdoor fish fry under their big tent.
I went with the beer battered cod. Beer battered food sits at this weird intersection of being thick but still flaky and crunchy, and I love that. Still easy to eat.
I am typically not a big fan of tartar sauce, but the house made tartar sauce made this fish fry taste delicious, and honestly that is what I eat food for.
Huge grass area where my kids love to run around, the Stable for a laid back bar, and live music a lot of the time. Great food and you do not have to go downtown for it.

Good to know
- Get the beer battered cod with the house made tartar sauce. Even if you are not a tartar sauce person.
- There are three types of fish, or you can get a combo of all of them. A few kids menu options too.
- The outdoor fish fry is Friday 5 to 8 PM under the big tent in the summer, often with live music. Call ahead to confirm.
