Troy's Take
Hands down one of my favorite lunch spots in the Madison area, with a catch. The brat cookout at Bavaria Sausage in Fitchburg is only on Fridays from 11 to 2, and only in the summer.
Bavaria has been around for over 50 years. The original owner was born in Germany. There is new ownership now, and in my opinion it has not changed this brat lunch whatsoever.
The Cajun brat is by far my favorite. Light spice, juicy, thick, and a ton of flavor all at once. The smoked brat has a thicker, snappier skin, and my last bite had so much char on it.
Lunch for under 10 bucks. Grab a soda, sit at a picnic table and enjoy it.
