Troy's Take

Meat People is a butcher shop off Monona Drive with some of the best meat around, and some of the best sandwiches in the Madison area. The catch: sandwiches are Thursday only, 11 to 1:30 or until sold out.

I pre-ordered and showed up at 11:50, and they were already telling the line it was sold out. The sandwich changes every week, so check their Instagram or Facebook to see what is on.

My week was house made hot pastrami on a house rye bun with muenster, charred cabbage, creamy mustard, and pickled cucumbers. No spice in the pastrami, but packed with flavor and cut thick. That creamy mustard is so good.

I normally do not love rye and this one was great. The pickled cucumber balances it out. $14 and so worth it. Pre-order, and grab some meat while you are there.
