Troy's Take
Au Cheval in Chicago off Randolph. One spot in Chicago, one in New York. Everybody told me this was the best burger in the country, or at least the best in Chicago. So I had to find out.
Classic double cheeseburger starts around $17. Add bacon for six, cheese for three, and with the egg you are looking at about $30. That bacon is a quarter inch thick. Unreal. A little piece of the egg broke off first and it was the best egg I have tasted.
Hot take: this burger is really, really good, but last time in Chicago my friend got Bavette's burger and I honestly liked that one more. Take the bacon off Au Cheval and it becomes a good burger. With the bacon though, it slaps.
Overall great burger and I am pumped I tried it. Go try their burger and tell me if you think it is the best you have had.
