One in Chicago, one in New York. We are in Chicago. This is the burger from Au Cheval. A lot of people say it is the best burger in the entire country. A lot of people say best in Chicago. We are going to find out.

What I ordered
Classic double cheeseburger with bacon and egg. Base double is about $17. Bacon adds six, cheese adds three. Ends up around $30. No napkins in the box, but that thing looked unbelievable.
My thoughts on the food
A tiny piece of egg broke off first. Best egg I have ever tasted. Good start. That bacon is like a quarter inch thick. Flavor is phenomenal. This thing is massive. Way more burger than I need. I could have gone with the single.
First bite with bacon: that bacon is unreal. So far my opinion is bacon makes the burger. Hot take though. This burger is really, really good. Last time in Chicago I ate at Bavette's and my friend got their burger. I honestly liked Bavette's better. Take the bacon off Au Cheval and it just becomes a good burger. Bavette's had more flavor to me, and the bacon there was a little crispier.
I get why the hype is there. Really damn good burger. Not going to discredit that. Overall great burger and I am so pumped I tried it because everybody recommended it.
The verdict
Au Cheval, Chicago, off Randolph Street. Go try their burger and let me know if you think it is the best burger you have had. This place has all the hype.
