Troy's Take
This is one of those places that ends up in literally every best burger in Madison conversation. Reddit threads, my comments section, friends who take burgers way too seriously. I finally stopped in downtown, and honestly, I kinda get the hype now.
The Memphis tots stole the show. Smoky seasoning, crispy tots, ridiculous flavor, and I could not stop eating them. The Tipsy Burger is the kind of burger where you immediately realize this is going to get messy: double patties, Widmer's brick cheese, Nueske's bacon, sauce everywhere. The bottom bun got a little soggy and somehow it still worked. Whatever is in that sauce is dangerous.
The goat cheese curds get a ton of love online. For me they were fine but not life-changing, a little more creamy and block-cheese-ish than classic curds.
It's a classic Wisconsin tavern with a modern upgrade: brick, dark wood, loud enough to feel alive. Take someone from out of town here when you want peak Wisconsin in one meal.
