Showboat Saloon

A lot of people tell me this place has the best wings in Wisconsin, so on a water park trip to the Dells with the family, we had to stop by and find out. Showboat Saloon is a classic Wisconsin bar: stage, good bar, darts, pool table, and a nice kids area where we ended up sitting because we have two crazy kids.

One heads up: there is a door that does not open, so do not try to go in that one. Use the double doors on the other side of the building or you will look like an idiot. The menu is your standard bar stuff plus a good lineup of flatbreads and wings.

The wings are actually pretty big and pretty saucy. I did not see as much char as I would like. The spicy honey garlic was good but could have been saucier and had more flavor. The hot buffalo, though, was really good with great sauce flavor. I landed somewhere around 7.9 to 8.1 on the wings.

My wife and son got a pizza and said it was just okay. Overall I rate Showboat a 7.8. It is a really good restaurant, and I will be here any time I am at the Dells. Half-price wings Tuesday and Thursday plus $2 Miller High Lifes makes it an easy call.
