Showboat Saloon

A lot of people tell me this place has the best wings in Wisconsin, so we had to find out. It is called Showboat Saloon, and it is in the Wisconsin Dells. My family and I were already out there for a water park night, so we had to stop by.

First things first, because this will save you from looking like an idiot. There is a door that does not open. Do not try to go in that one. Instead, go in through the double doors on the other side of the building.

The Vibe

It has your standard bar stuff: a stage, a good bar, darts and a pool table. Classic Wisconsin bar. There is also a nice area for kids, which is where we had to sit, because we have got two crazy kids.

The Menu

It is your standard bar menu. On the right hand side they have a lot of different things when it comes to flatbreads and wings. What is really cool is they run half-price wings on Tuesday and Thursday, along with $2 Miller High Lifes. If you are planning a wing run, aim for one of those nights.

The Wings

The wings are actually pretty big and pretty saucy. I did not see as much char as I would like, but let us get into a real reaction.

I started with the spicy honey garlic. They are good. Could be a little saucier. Could have more flavor on the sauce. Good, not great.

Then the hot buffalo. That was actually really good. Great sauce flavor. This is the one to order. Somewhere between 7.9 and 8.1 is where I landed on the wings overall.

The Rest of the Food

My wife and son ended up getting a pizza. They said it was okay. Not the move. If you are here, you are here for the wings.

Final Verdict

Overall I rate Showboat Saloon a 7.8. At the end of the day, it was a really good restaurant, and I will be here any time that I am at the Dells. With half-price wings on Tuesday and Thursday and $2 Miller High Lifes, it is an easy stop to justify.
