Troy's Take
Every time I make a burger video, people tell me I have to try Oakcrest. So I listened. Oakcrest Tavern is off Old Middleton Road in Madison.
I got a bacon cheeseburger with pepper jack and kept it simple. That bun feels like my pillow at home. Out of all the burger spots I have been to, it is the best bun by far. The cheese is melted right into it and the bacon is the perfect thickness.
It is not a smash burger, it is a classic cheeseburger, and this might be my favorite classic burger so far. My only gripes are that they do not do jalapenos or banana peppers, and the patty could use a little more salt.
Burger and fries for 14 bucks. Great prices, great burgers and an incredible fish fry. I am 100 percent coming back.
