Troy's Take

Layne's Chicken Fingers just opened on Mineral Point in West Madison and I went ham. Four-piece tender basket, three spicy and one regular, Texas toast, Layne's sauce, plus honey mustard on the side. Also got the club, cheese curds, and a salted caramel shake.

Those cheese curds slap. Lightly breaded cubes, more cheesy than bready, and they blow Culver's curds out of the water for me. Jalapeno ranch, regular ranch, Layne's sauce, and honey mustard are all made in house. Texas toast was buttery and a little salty at the end.

Spicy tenders are the move. Flaky crispy breading, juicy inside, drown them in that house honey mustard. Regular is fine but spicy wins. The spicy club with bacon, cheese, and Layne's sauce is huge and tasty. I'd just want the bacon a little crispier.

Crinkle fries were better than I expected. Chain or not, good food is good food. Ranking for me: spicy tenders, cheese curds, club, fries, regular tenders, shake somewhere in the middle. Go try West Madison Layne's.
