Troy's Take
Bavette's is an upscale steakhouse on Kinzie Street in Chicago. Very dim, big bar, really intimate. Perfect for date night, after work or bringing family.
I tried for three years to get a reservation at 9 AM. The trick is to go there around 2:45 PM when they start taking walk ins. We got a 5:30 table the same day.
My 10 ounce peppercorn crusted filet was one of the best I have had in a very long time. The baked goat cheese with garlic bread was incredible, and the creme brulee was the best of my entire life.
The truffle mac was just okay, and the price is hard to stomach, but it was definitely worth the wait.
