This taco place right outside of Madison is one of the best hidden gem taco spots you can get your hands on. El Gran Taco Gato in Fitchburg.

You walk in and there are tons of desserts, groceries, churros, tostadas, burritos, elote. It feels like everything you can think of when it comes to Mexican food is here.

I got al pastor, chicken, and steak on double corn tortillas with lime and hot sauce. The al pastor is one of the better ones I have had, and the chicken does not lack flavor at all.

$4 a taco, about $13 for three after tax. Call ahead to make sure they are cooking, because they sometimes cater. Those tacos were great.

Good to know

  • Get the al pastor taco. One of the better al pastor tacos I have had.
  • Tacos are $4 each on double corn tortillas. Three tacos ran me about $13 after tax. Add lime and hot sauce.
  • They sometimes cater, so call ahead to make sure they are cooking. It is tucked at the end of a little strip mall.
