Troy's Take

Finding someone you trust with your dog is harder than it should be. Cherokee Kennels has been family owned and operated since 1962, and the place feels like it: 70 acres of woods, fields and wetlands just south of Madison, with one of the only indoor/outdoor boarding setups in the area.

What sold me is how they handle playtime. Instead of dumping every dog into one big group, they match up two to five dogs by size, age and temperament across eight different play areas. Boarding includes two supervised playtimes a day, a Kuranda bed, and doors left open on nice days so the dogs can wander in and out.

Boarding runs $32 a day for a standard run or $42 for a suite, cats are $25, and daycare is $25 for the first dog when they have room. Sixty plus years in business says plenty, but the setup says more.
