Zafferano
Zafferano's Chicken 65 gnocchi is living rent free in my head
2969 Cahill Main, Fitchburg, WI
Holy. That is good. Wildest fusion. They are releasing a new menu and I wanted to try it. Tons of options: curry artichoke dip, chicken and cheese samosas, chicken kebab, lamb kebab, Chicken 65 pizza. Eclectic and unique. I had no clue if it was good, so we tried it.

Date night deal
Wednesday date nights evening for two around $65. Bottle of wine, chef's appetizer, classic pizza, and dessert to share. Absolute steal for that price.
What I ordered
Curry artichoke dip with garlic bread, Chicken 65 (with the Indian gnocchi situation), garlic naan, saag burrata with rice, and carrot creme brulee with Indian spices.
My thoughts on the food
Artichoke dip is cold. Never had artichoke dip served cold. Comes with garlic bread. You do not taste a ton of curry. Definitely taste cheese and artichoke. Garlic bread is incredible: very light but also very crunchy.
Chicken 65 looks better than most I have had. Last time I was not a massive fan because it did not have a ton of flavor. This one blasts you with flavor. Perfect amount of spice. Delicious. Like a nine out of ten. Spice is great, flavor is great. I would never have imagined eating Indian gnocchi in my life. Heat builds. About a three and a half out of five spice for me.
Garlic naan is lightly flaky on the bottom and thin. If you like thick soft naan this might not be your style. Still really good. Saag burrata with rice is one of the most unique things I have ordered. I love the saag. Cheese is good but cold while everything else is warm, which threw me. Between gnocchi and saag I would go gnocchi for the spice. That chicken was unbelievable.
Carrot creme brulee with Indian spices. I love creme brulee and I love carrot cake so this should slap. Top is torched really well and crunchy. Taste is really good. Texture is mushy, almost thick solid mushy like cottage cheese. I am a huge texture guy. Taste wins, texture is a personal thing.
The verdict
Zafferano out in Fitchburg. Some of the most unique menu items. That gnocchi I am going to think about when I go to sleep tonight, probably also when I wake up. All around really good food. Odd location, interesting location. Go try it.
