The Village Green

I am being told that this is one of the best hamburgers in the entire state of Wisconsin. A lot of people recommended this one to me, so I was pumped to try it. This is The Village Green in Middleton. So many people said it is by far the best burger in the Madison area, and a lot of people said it is the best burger in the state. I was about to find out.

The vibe

The area around it is really nice, with all these fancy shops and stuff, but The Village Green has your classic Wisconsin bar vibes. Nothing fancy whatsoever. It is just a place where you walk in, feel comfortable and feel like a regular. There is a bar as soon as you walk in and a huge room with tables.

What I ordered

• Double cheeseburger with bacon and jalapenos
• Fries with Cajun seasoning

My thoughts on the food

These fries looked unbelievable. I got them with Cajun seasoning, and that crunch to soft ratio is perfect. Lightly crunchy on the outside, soft in the middle.

Then the burger. That is delicious. The bun is so soft, and you can see the char that runs along the patty. The bacon is the exact thickness I want. Every bite has a really good, powerful taste of bacon, but it does not overpower the burger. It is a perfect balance. And the jalapenos, you know I love my jalapenos.

This might be one of the best classic burgers I have had. What I mean by classic is that it is not some crazy fancy burger. It is simply a bar burger that is done so well. I am impressed. I can absolutely see why people keep telling me this is one of the best burgers around.

Important and interesting info

• The double cheeseburger was 12 bucks when I went, and it was around 15 bucks altogether with the Cajun fries. Prices may have changed since.
• Do not expect crazy specialty burgers. They do classic burgers and they do them well.
• It is in the heart of Middleton with tons of shops around, so parking is not the best, especially on a beautiful day.

The verdict

I can not say if it is the best burger in Wisconsin yet, but what I can say for sure is that this burger is so good and their fries are so good. The Village Green in Middleton. Grab yourself a burger and then come back and thank me later. Thank you to everyone who recommended this place to me.
