The Mediterranean Joint

The Mediterranean Joint might have the best chicken shawarma bowl in Madison

600 Williamson St, Madison, WI

I just opened this up and it looks unbelievable. This is The Mediterranean Joint on Williamson Street in Madison. So many of you kept recommending it, so I had to see what the hype was about.

What I ordered

  • Chicken shawarma bowl with rice, chicken, pita and tzatziki (no salad)
  • Falafel

My thoughts on the food

We always get falafel at every Mediterranean place so we can compare. It was about five or six bucks for three little pieces, so a little pricier. Crunchy on the outside. It was fine, nothing crazy by any means. Not my favorite falafel in Madison, but not bad.

The pita was so soft, and I love how soft it is. Dip it in the tzatziki and that sauce is great. Then I mixed up the bowl and got right into it. Packed with flavor. That rice was delicious, soft and almost moist. The chicken essentially melts in your mouth. I 1,000 percent understand why people keep recommending this place.

This chicken shawarma bowl might be the best chicken shawarma bowl I have had in the Madison area. Pro move: make yourself a little pita taco with it. Amazing.

Important and interesting info

  • The bowl was 18 bucks. A little pricey, but the portion size is good and if it is good, the price is worth it.
  • The bowl normally comes with a salad. You can skip it like I did.
  • It tastes so fresh.

The verdict

The Mediterranean Joint off of Willy Street. If you have not been there, do yourself a favor and go as soon as you can. These bowls are so damn good. I can not get over how fresh it tastes, and I will definitely be back.
