Troy's Take

I stopped by Nar Turkish because I wanted to try Turkish ice cream for the first time ever, and I was absolutely not prepared for how different it is. In a good way. A wait, why is my ice cream stretching, kind of way.

Turkish ice cream is made with goat milk and salep, which makes it resist melting and gives it a chewy, stretchy texture. Nothing like custard or a scoop shop. The Oreo flavor was really solid and just fun to eat.

The almond cookie had a big crunch and light sweetness, not overpowering at all. Here's the tip: that cookie paired with the Oreo ice cream is elite. Nar should sell it as a combo. The shekerpare is very, very soft, borderline falling apart in your hand. Flavor is good, but I'm a texture guy, so that one is for people who love extremely soft cookies.

The place is super casual, a neighborhood spot locals quietly love. Everything I tried was homemade. I'm coming back hungry, because if the dessert game is this strong I need to see what the halal plates are all about.
