Fya Syde Kitchen

Fya Syde Kitchen is run by two of the nicest people, Xavier and Nikki. Nikki is the food person. She has been featured for her oxtail birria tacos. Xavier is on the bar side. You walk in and it is this long room with a bar that stretches the entire way. Cool as hell.

What I ordered

Jamaican barbecue fried chicken with rice and beans and festival (sweet deep-fried bread), plus an oxtail birria taco that Xavier recommended.

My thoughts on the food

I did not expect the oxtail birria taco to taste like that. One of the best tacos I have ever had in my entire life. Dead ass. Unbelievably good. Now up there on one of my favorite things to eat in general. Xavier, thank you.

The fried chicken plate is huge. Almost sweet and savory. Jamaican barbecue fried chicken with that sauce is incredible. Festival is that sweet deep-fried bread.

Hands down, some of the best places in Madison are the ones that do not get enough attention. Nikki makes some of the best food I have tasted.

• Tuesdays are FYA nights with reggae, half off Long Islands and margaritas, and food discounts.
