Buns on Fire

Buns on Fire in Brookfield might have the best chicken sandwich in Wisconsin

17395 W Bluemound Rd, Brookfield, WI

This place is rumored to have one of the best fried chicken sandwiches in the entire state. Before I even took a bite I could tell. That bun looked so fresh, the chicken looked perfectly fried, and the sauce looked great.

Buns on Fire has locations in Illinois, but they recently opened one in Brookfield. They are known for the chicken sandwiches, but also for some incredible burgers and some of the best loaded fries around. So I said screw it, let's try a little bit of everything.

What I ordered

The spicy fried chicken sandwich, the WTF burger (What The Flame), loaded fries with ground beef, and a blue raspberry cream soda because why not.

My thoughts on the food

The spicy chicken sandwich. Oh my god. Almost a perfect 10. It was absolutely juicy, it was crunchy, and it had a real nice kick that I could feel on my tongue. Every single bite was crunchy, every single bite was juicy, every single bite was spicy and flavorful. And that bun is just so soft. Please bring one of these to Madison or somewhere around Madison. This is what we need.

The WTF burger has their house sauce, cheese, lettuce, tomato, jalapenos and true smash patties that are actually seasoned. So much flavor. I loved that house sauce with the spice from the jalapenos, the crunch from the onions and the softness of the bun. High 8s for me.

The loaded fries were next. I got mine with ground beef, but you can also get them with fried chicken. You can literally see how seasoned these are. Cheesy, meaty, delicious.

The vibe

Pretty dope interior. There is graffiti and all kinds of cool art on the walls. It feels fun and casual, exactly the kind of spot you want for a big messy lunch.

The verdict

Every single thing I ate was delicious. The spicy chicken sandwich was my favorite because I am obsessed with spicy chicken sandwiches. The burger was a close second and the loaded fries were a very close third. I am telling you, each one of those was incredibly good.

Buns on Fire in Brookfield. If you have not been, get out there. It is so good. And when you try it, DM me and let me know what you think.
