Los Gemelos
Los Gemelos on Odana is a Mexican grocery with tacos worth the trip
6713 Odana Rd #9, Madison, WI
According to so many of you, this is one of the best places to get Mexican food in the Madison area. That is Los Gemelos off of Odana. They have another location too, but I heard this one was the better one, so that is where I went. I got three tacos: a pollo, a campechano and an asada.

The vibe
Los Gemelos is a grocery store. You walk in and there are a lot of different groceries. To the left you can get meat if you want to cook at home. To the right there is a massive room with a bar, Mexican desserts and a lot of different areas to sit. You order your food there.
My thoughts on the food
They gave us two sauces, green and red. I usually like green with steak or red meat and red with chicken. The red one had good spice with a real after kick. All the tacos came on a double corn tortilla so everything stays together.
The chicken taco was the one I was least excited for, just based on looks. It was alright. The tortillas definitely carried the first bite, but the next bite had more flavor, and adding that red sauce was the move. Pretty good taco, no complaints.
The campechano is steak and chorizo mixed together, and it is one of my all time favorite tacos. I get it everywhere I go. With the green salsa, this one was good. I liked it better than the chicken. A good amount of flavor and the tortillas were fresh.
The asada taco is your steak taco. It was good, I just do not think it had as much flavor as the campechano. The asada and the chicken were on the same level for me. Good, authentic tacos with great tortillas. The thing that stood out with the campechano must be that chorizo.
Important and interesting info
- Tacos were $3.99 each. All three came to about 12 bucks.
- Full Mexican grocery with a meat counter.
- They have Mexican desserts too.
The verdict
Honestly, I am pleased. These tacos were good and I am pumped I tried this place out. I had no idea it was right there, and the fact that it is a Mexican grocery store where you can also get Mexican desserts is a huge win. That is a dub all around. If you have been, tell me what I should order next time.
