Barriques

Barriques is one of my favorite chain coffee shops around because their food is pretty good. You can grab coffee, wine, espresso, Bourbon, so many different things, and all of it is just good. Cute little shop on the inside. I went to the University Ave location and wanted to try a lot of different things.

What I ordered

Bacon egg and cheese breakfast sandwich, the Power Burrito, a pulled pork quesadilla, and a Rice Krispies treat. Because Rice Krispies treats are one of my favorite things to eat in the entire world.

My thoughts on the food

The bacon egg and cheese is a classic. Soft roll, egg looks good, bacon is not that thick but proportionate to the sandwich. Basic, not really greasy, small. Perfect if you want something quick. Nothing fancy, so do not expect a massive incredible breakfast sandwich. The only thing I would change is adding a spread, maybe garlic aioli or something with a little kick. Nonetheless I would eat this every single day.

Pulled pork quesadilla came with a chipotle style aioli, peppers, cheese, onions, pulled pork. It is fine. It is good. Nothing crazy. Tortilla with pulled pork, peppers, onions, and cheese. Definitely was not bad.

Power Burrito. Jeez, I did not need a burrito this big. No salsa in the to go box, so I went in without hot sauce. You get a wide variety of flavor in every bite. Great cheese pull. All the ingredients you want in a healthy burrito. Removing the missing sauce from the expectation, this is a great Power Burrito.

Rice Krispies treat has marshmallow on the bottom and a melted marshmallow coating. Huge, size of my face. Maybe a little overkill on size. Not overly sweet. Not the best I have had, but still good.

The vibe

Good food, great coffee, great vibes. Wine wall energy if you want to hang. Easy University Ave stop with free wifi.

The verdict

Big fan of Barriques all around. Good spot, good food, great coffee, great vibes. You really cannot go wrong stopping at Barriques. Several locations in Wisconsin. Go check it out.
